The Glynn County Student Advisory Council selects a Difference Maker from each school, teachers who make a positive impact within their schools and community.
Mrs. Carlotta Mitchell is the Difference Maker at Satilla Marsh Elementary. "Everybody makes a difference," Mrs. Mitchell says. "I can't do what I do unless someone else has prepared them." "We’re a family in Mrs. Mitchell’s class" says Jayden, one of her second-year students. Mrs. Mitchell looped with her fourth-now-fifth graders. "I drive 18 miles to work each day. I'm always thinking about how to present a new adventure each day," Mrs. Mitchell says. Here's what else her students say about her: She helps us set goals. She makes us laugh. She keeps us healthy. She saves our life. She gets us smarter She knows we can do better. She challenges us. She shows us how to act & be respectful. Mrs. Mitchell divides her class into different groups, each with their own mission. This is how students describe their groups' mission: Adventure: "We find new ways how to solve a problem." Explorer: "We find the answers." Love: "We don’t do anything with hate." Busy: "We keep everyone on track & organized." Purpose: "We wake up with a goal." The Voice: "Be your own voice, not an echo."
